Craft origami birds from the pages of scientific writings of APS papers or your notebook. In this collaborative art and science project, participants create individual pieces, and these origami birds will come together to form a breathtaking large-scale installation, symbolizing the knowledge, science, and the collective journey of ideas taking flight.

The birds can be made and/or collected at the NCCR SPIN booth “Hidden Variables” at the Quantum Playground.

Art direction and organization:: Maria Longobardi, Marie Le Dantec

How to make your Origami bird

We propose two types of origami birds below: one simple one (the crane) and one more advance (the swallow). However, all types of origami birds are accepted! Therefore, if you don’t find any of these birds to your liking, you are more than welcome to craft one of your own. Once your bird is finished, you are invited to bring it directly to the installation in the Anaheim Convention Center North Building entrance. You can craft your bird directly there too, instructions and people are there to help!
