Kaila Yallum

Kaila’s PhD and PostDoctoral research on ultrafast spectroscopy of organic semiconductors along with her bachelor’s degree in philosophy of science position her at the interface of science and society, materials science, optics, and chemistry. Throughout her research trajectory, she has maintained an active role in promoting research ethics and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the natural sciences by providing invitedworkshops and founding a students’ association with a mission to uphold these ideals.

Kaila’s most recent experiences in communications for quantum science, technology, and innovation (STI) come from Swissnex, where she worked to strengthen ties between Switzerland and the global community in quantum STI. She did this by contributing to the 2025 Swissnex Quantum Summit and the Swissnex Quantum Ecosystem Mapping. This role also exposed her to a network of policy-makers, innovators, and entrepreneurship supporters that she hopes can bring added value to the NCCR SPIN researchers.
