The Quantum 100 is a list of 100 professionals from around the world chosen to represent a broad range of contributions to quantum science and technology, including research, education, outreach, and policy. Longobardi’s profile on the official IYQ website notes her roles in access to quantum science, including a quantum algorithms course for women in Africa. She also supports collaborations between artists and scientists, notably through the QuantaArt initiative at NCCR SPIN, which includes an artist-in-residence program. In addition, she co-directed Quantum Jubilee and QuantumFest at the APS Global Summit 2025, events that used artistic formats to make quantum science more accessible. Through these activities, she has encouraged collaboration between young scientists and artists.
Beyond these initiatives, Longobardi is engaged in science diplomacy and the promotion of international partnerships between academia and industry. She advises organizations such as the American Physical Society, UNESCO, and the European Commission.
The Quantum 100 initiative forms part of UNESCO’s broader efforts during the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to document and share diverse contributions to the field of quantum science and technology, spanning academia, industry, communication, and public engagement.
