New Communication and Outreach Officer Joins the NCCR SPIN Office

NCCR SPIN welcomed Kaila Yallum, our new Communication and Outreach Officer on March 3, 2026. Kaila’s PhD and PostDoctoral research on ultrafast spectroscopy of organic semiconductors along with her bachelor’s degree in philosophy of science position her at the interface of science and society, materials science, optics, and chemistry. Her unbridled enthusiasm for science communication makes this position ideal for her:

“I am thrilled to be at the heart of such interesting and cutting-edge research to communicate these important advances in quantum computing with a broader audience!”

Kaila’s most recent experiences in communications for quantum science, technology, and innovation (STI) come from Swissnex, where she worked to strengthen ties between Switzerland and the global community in quantum STI. She did this by contributing to the 2025 Swissnex Quantum Summit and the Swissnex Quantum Ecosystem Mapping. This role also exposed her to a network of policy-makers, innovators, and entrepreneurship supporters that she hopes can bring added value to the NCCR SPIN researchers. The young and early career researchers at NCCR SPIN are warmly invited to reach out to Kaila for science communication and outreach support.
