UpQuantVal & NCCR SPIN Quantum Industry Chat and UpQuantVal Scientific Symposium
The UpQuantVal Consortium, together with NCCR SPIN, is bringing researchers, industry representatives, startups, policymakers and other members of the quantum ecosystem to Basel for two days of exchange on 10–11 September 2026 at the Department of Physics, University of Basel.
The two-day event combines the UpQuantVal & NCCR SPIN Quantum Industry Chat on 10 September with the UpQuantVal Scientific Meeting on 11 September. Together, the two events will provide a forum to explore current developments in quantum technologies, strengthen connections between research and industry, and foster collaboration across the Upper Rhine region and beyond. More info about the event and the program as well as the link to register for free can be found on the event’s official webpage:

Day 1: Quantum Industry Chat — 10 September 2026
The first day will focus on the interface between quantum technologies and industry. The Quantum Industry Chat is designed for a broad audience, including participants with little or no previous experience in quantum technologies.
Introductory talks will provide accessible insights into the state of the art and potential industrial applications of quantum computing, quantum sensing and quantum communication. A dedicated session will also highlight education and training opportunities for professionals who are interested in developing quantum-related skills.
The program will bring together companies, startups, researchers and representatives of the regional innovation ecosystem through a panel discussion, company and startup pitches, an industry exhibition and laboratory visits. The day will conclude with an apéro and networking reception, offering participants the opportunity to meet potential partners, clients and collaborators and to exchange ideas in an informal setting.
The Quantum Industry Chat aims in particular to strengthen connections across the quantum ecosystem of the Upper Rhine region and to make quantum technologies more accessible to companies and professionals interested in their future potential.
Day 2: UpQuantVal Scientific Meeting — 11 September 2026
The second day will focus on the scientific dimension of UpQuantVal and bring together researchers and project partners working across the consortium.
The UpQuantVal Scientific Meeting will provide an opportunity to present and discuss current research activities, exchange results and perspectives, and identify opportunities for further collaboration within the project. The program will feature scientific presentations and discussions covering the different areas represented within UpQuantVal.
By bringing the consortium together in person, the meeting will support closer interaction between the participating institutions and contribute to the continued development of the project’s scientific network.
Connecting research, innovation and the regional quantum ecosystem
Across both days, the event reflects UpQuantVal’s broader objective of connecting scientific expertise, technological innovation, education and industry. By creating opportunities for exchange between researchers, companies, startups and other stakeholders, the event will help strengthen the quantum ecosystem in the Upper Rhine region and encourage new collaborations across institutional and national borders.
The events take place on 10 and 11 September 2026 at the Department of Physics of the University of Basel, St. Johanns-Ring 25, 4056 Basel
